Varela Diesel was founded in 2011 in Odessa, TX
Edgar Varela is an Odessa native. Shortly after graduating from Odessa High, he headed to Phoenix, Arizona, to study diesel mechanics. His wife, Elle, says it didn’t take him long to start chasing his dream of owning his own shop.
“When he came back to Odessa, he started working at dealerships and then realized how much those dealerships were charging,” Elle said.
That’s when Edgar took the risk and opened his own shop, "Varela Diesel," which has been locally owned and operated since 2011. Elle tells us her husband wanted to give Odessans the best service at a lower cost.
“He always says he wants to be an honest mechanic and get the customers back on the road as quickly as we can,” Elle shared.
Elle and Edgar have three kids. Their two boys spend their free time learning the tricks of the trade from their dad. There is no denying that it is a family business!
